Those adverbs add a pile of jack squat.

When I write the hell out of something, which to say, when I rewrite the hell out of something, I wage war on adverbs AND adjectives. Draft 15 is often half as long as draft five, and in my opinion, twice is good.

Of course, I still hate whatever I write.

Cool site, by the way. I expect I'll be a regular here for better or worse.

Amanda, good point. Maybe it’s more of an ideal to shoot for, realizing that you’ll still have some but the ones that you do have need to *really* count, y’know?

I would say I hate adverbs and adjectives and that writers should leave them out. But if the sentences suddenly become all nouns and verbs, what's left? The key is to figure out which ones are good and which ones are bad. I love these writing exercises. Amanda’s last blog post..Do you want a toy bath or a fast bath?
