I'm honored that you posted a link to my 2009 Personal Book Challenge (says the lady that has 10 years worth of reading in her house). And...I freely admit to being a book buying addict.

I've done pretty well with the book buying this year. Some slipups. I got a new Kindle and that required buying some books to load onto it. :-) I will say that I have read more books this year than any year since I have kept track. That's a good thing.

My blog has been on permanent hiatus since April, but I am thinking about starting back up again. My life has been wild this last couple of years and things are still chaotic, but I miss blogging. Maybe in a few weeks or so.

Anyway, I just wanted to thank you.

Dani, reading a book is a lot like going out on a date, so perfect analogy. :)

I really need to figure out a way to keep my TBR list fresh and not overwhelming. So often, I come across a review & I just add the title to my TBR list without doing much more digging to see if I'd actually like it. Hmm, maybe a topic for another day...

Lisa, congrats on beating back the book-buying monster! If you think of anything else that's helped you, please report back. :)

You are preaching to the choir here -- I stopped buying books ages ago. I understand your point about losing your excitement or booklust, though. As you read on my blog, I have books on my Goodreads list that I added over a year ago that I'm not even interested in any more. I guess it is the equivalent of your parents making you wait to date that boy: if you really love him, you'll still love him six months from now :-).

Library book sales once a month? Wow! My library only has a book sale once a year. I haven't been to one in over five years because I keep forgetting when it is :-).

Great topic! I buy very few books anymore, most of mine are from paperbackswap or the library. I'm making an effort to de-clutter a bit and books are one of the major problems. I did buy Patricia Briggs newest and I buy craft books, maybe 1 every month or two, but that's it. It's nice to have cut that out.

Alexa, you are too kind! *blush*

Sequels are so sneaky, aren't they? I had this idea that I would try to hold off starting a series until all the books were out, but then. Hunger Games. Graceling. Foiled!

J.C., library book sales are SO sweet. I used to get a ton of books that way before we ran out of bookshelf space. Now I don't let myself go to even those, mainly because we now live in a 1000 sq ft house with no more room for supplemental bookshelves. ;-)

I'm glad you found our list of tips & that they were helpful to you!
