Casey, doesn't it feel weird to not completely fall in love with something that everyone else seems to? I didn't hate it or anything, I did enjoy reading it. But it won't make my all-time faves list or anything.

Janssen, that's a good point that I need to keep in mind that Newbery is VERY different from a Printz, and my natural inclination is to like the latter.

I really thought I was the only one who felt “meh” about The Giver. I've read it at least 2-3 times now, when I was in elementary or middle school and again in graduate school. I can appreciate the writing but it just doesn't really do anything for me.

I thought this book was just terrific, but I expected it to be young, since I read it as a Newbery, rather than a YA title.

I've had this book on my TBR for a long time. Maybe I'll pull it out and give it a shot this year. I have heard so many great things about this book.
