Skirts and dresses are hung in the order I last wore them. Shirts are hung according to the rainbow. Patterned shirts bother me but I make them work. I also face all my bills in my wallet. My bookcases are arranged according to binding. I have all the 6x9 hardcovers (and oversized books) on the bottom shelves (because of their weight). Then I put all the 5x8 hardcovers together on one shelf, the 5x8 paperbacks, 6x9 paperbacks, and mass markets also all live together. But I don't like to have large blocks of color so if I have 2 books with white spines together, I'll put a book with a blue spine between them so there aren't any clumps.
