Haha My favorite Buffy quote, which seems related, which Buffy says to Angel in the Season 7 finale episode:

“I'm cookie dough. I'm not done baking. I'm not finished becoming whoever the hell it is I'm gonna turn out to be. I make it through this, and the next thing, and the next thing, and maybe one day, I turn around and realize I'm ready. I'm cookies. Oh you nailed the divide and duh Buffy and Angel win every time even though they don't 'win' in the end. They have some good times and they'll always be friends (cough with benefits) which is pretty darn romantic. When Bella and Edward aren't together they can't be anything lest tortured eye contact destroy them both.

Alexa, I devoured Twilight too. And I did really enjoy Shiver. I think you will too!

I wish we had a good Buffy replacement on TV nowadays, especially since Dollhouse was cancelled. Maybe it's time to rewatch all the episodes…

Buffy!!! I just looked at my romantic reads recommendations and yes the girls all have lots of other stuff in their lives. Hoever, I devoured Twilight and I'm looking forward to Shiver too

Have you read Graceling? While it doesn't take place in high school, the main character, Katsa, falls for a guy, but she doesn't let it stop her from reaching her goals, or change her life. I'd say Cashore's Fire is the same way. Those are the first that came to mind.

I'm glad you enjoyed Shiver. And I agree, it left me wanting more, I just really, really liked Sam!
