Now that's some excellent practical advice there. It's the sort of advice I like because I immediately start turning my WIP over in my mind, trying to figure out where I'm succeeding and failing. I always learn something from that!

Great list I agree with everything, I shall try and do No 7 too that's a good one.

I loved the Guardian list, I think Neil Gaiman's was my favourite about being able to do anything as long as you did it well and with confidence

Hi Kelly.

I like your rules as well. Especially the part about making a good first impression. Because if the book isn't interesting to start with, it doesn't matter how good the rest is, because the agent or editor won't bother reading the rest.
